It doesn’t matter how long you were with her if she walked out then you will miss her.  But why do you miss her so much?

Routine

why_you_miss_her-routine We humans have a fantastic ability to fall into a set routine, whether it is our work day habits or how we spend our free time.  Routines come naturally to us and it is usually very hard to break free from a routine or, even worse, have our routine purposefully broken for us. You are used to spending time with her and if you were with her for many years than you have created a very deep-set routine.

Creating a new routine

why_you_miss_her-creating_a_new_routine Like most people, you will feel lost and unsure of yourself after a breakup because the time you spent with her is now free time.  The routine you shared with her has also been severed and your brain really, really misses this routine. It’s your brain that’s the biggest problem.  It knows that in order to get the routine back you must get her back.  Unfortunately, your brain has now gone into full heroin addict mode.  It knows what it wants (the routine back), it knows the cure to this (her) and it is in panic mode. You brain will make you do very stupid things during this time, like begging her to come back.  This is no different than a heroin addict who has just run out of the drug and needs a fix.  They will literally do anything to please the brain. The only way to stop the craving is to immediately create a brand new routine to fill the gap.  Just like our example of a heroin addict, the new routine should be a healthy one that keeps you so busy that you forget all about the drug (her). Take up a sport or join a gym and give it your all.  Find some new hobbies and pursue these with all your passion.  Spend plenty of time with your friends doing exciting new things, but above all… don’t ever discuss the drug (her) with anyone.  You need to forget all about the existence of the drug (her). The only way to stop the craving is to immediately create a brand new routine to fill the gap. Share on X
