Since the global economic crash of 2008 it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a job so if you have one it is vital that you do everything possible to hold onto it, right? The only possible way to stand out from the crowd is to become more productive. This also applies to you if you run your own business or even if you are looking for a job. But how can having a healthy body and mind make you more productive?
Eating healthy
When you eat healthily your body will reward you handsomely. As human beings, we are designed to eat only healthy food. When we cram processed crap and sweets into our system we become sluggish and unhealthy after a little while. Do your body a big favor and eat healthy foods from Monday to Saturday. You can have a day off on Sunday where you eat whatever you like. This will be your reward for being so good during the week. The kind of foods your body craves includes:- Water (loads of it)
- Vegetables
- Fruits
- Nuts
- Bread, pasta, potatoes
- Dairy (milk, cheese, yogurts)
- Meat
- Fish
Regular exercise
By exercising regularly you will encourage the brain to release massive doses of Endorphin’s which are the body’s natural feel-good drug. You want to feel good, don’t you? Now don’t confuse a brisk walk every day with proper vigorous exercise. The kind of exercise your body craves is a serious workout for at least 40 minutes per day. Some exercises that are good for boosting your brain’s chemical release and building a healthy body include:- Running
- Cycling
- Skipping (best and quickest way to lose fat)
- Swimming
- Weightlifting
Exercise for the mind
I know you might be consumed by work, without a single minute to spare for anything but if you want to be more productive it is important to fully switch off and let your mind wonder. Take some time to think about completely insignificant things and regain your childlike wonder for everything. By switching off and going to a non-work-related place in your mind it gives your thoughts a chance to reboot. By the time you go back to working your brain will be able to focus a lot better and may even have the answers to that problem you’ve been stuck on all day.Exercise for the soul
If you are a horrible bastard who hates everyone you have only succeeded in sabotaging yourself by cluttering your mind with nothing but hate and rage. Your soul needs some exercise too. Do something nice, at least once per day, for someone less fortunate than you or be the ear to someone at your workplace who has something going on in their life. Not only will these practices make you a far better person but they will usually make you see that your own personal problems are nothing in comparison to other peoples.Reward yourself
There is no point working constantly with nothing to show for it. Make sure to reward yourself as soon as you reach a goal or finish a difficult task. This is great for boosting your productivity because it tells your brain that the sooner you get something done the sooner you will get something nice in return. Be careful with this one and only reward yourself after a big goal because if you reward yourself after every little thing it will be like a casino where you can’t lose. Sure it will be great at the beginning but after a while, it will bore the life out of you.If you’re a regular reader of the site, please consider supporting my efforts so I can continue to deliver content.
