Growing
In order to get a continuous supply of herbs, it is best if they are planted 2-3 weeks apart. Most herbs can simply be sprinkled on top of the soil, either outside or in containers. Always follow the instructions on the back of the seed packet. Not all herbs are suitable for growing indoors but all should grow in the garden without any major problems. The easiest herbs to grow indoors are:- Basil
- Chives
- Coriander
- Dill
- Mint
Harvesting
Cut away some of the herbs when you need it. In order to encourage continuous growth, you should trim some of the herbs from plants that are getting out of hand or ones that are not used that often. Always remove from the outside of the plant, leaving the center portion, where the main root stems will be, alone. Do not remove too much of the herb as this will cause it to die. As a general rule only remove approximately 1/4 of the herb. This will encourage new growth. If you’re a regular reader of the site, please consider supporting my efforts so I can continue to deliver content.
