I know how it is, I’ve been there before… you’re hopelessly busy and there aren’t enough hours in the day. Stress levels have gone through the roof and you can’t even get a few minutes to yourself let alone spend some time drifting off in your own mind for some daydreaming, but it will make you more productive so you can eventually free up some time in the long-run.
Letting your mind wonder
The most stressful parts of your day are probably the best times to just shut work out of your mind and let it do its own thing. You know what to do. I can’t tell you how to daydream or what to daydream about but I will tell you not to try and control it, just let your mind jump from one random thought to another. Why bother?
Letting your mind wonder can actually tap into parts of your memory where the answer to that impossible project or how to properly structure that contract or whatever unanswerable problem you face, is stored. Your subconscious mind already knows the answer but your conscious mind just cannot gain access. Allowing your mind to run wild on its own will actually pull that answer from the subconscious and into the conscious where it’s needed. Letting your mind wonder can actually tap into parts of your memory where the answer is. Share on X Many of the greatest minds of our time were great proponents of letting your mind busy itself with anything other than the problem at hand in order to get the answers you need. In this respect, daydreaming is no different to sleeping. Sleeping is the time when the brain will analyze the activities of the day in order to make sense of everything and come up with answers, ultimately allowing us to grow smarter. It is also vital that you get enough sleep (7-9 hours per night). If you are regularly getting far less sleep than this, it may also be a good idea to add an afternoon nap to your routine. Don’t worry about the time you seem to waste on daydreaming or having a nap, as these activities will ultimately make you far more productive so you will get more done in less time.If you’re a regular reader of the site, please consider supporting my efforts so I can continue to deliver content.
